Maximizing Circularity: HEINEKEN Mexico’s Sustainability Strategy

Innovation and Sustainability: The Initiatives that drive towards a Circular Future

HEINEKEN Mexico, with its goal of maximizing circularity by 2030, leads the transformation towards a sustainable future with its “Providing a Better World” strategy. Below, we highlight some of their key initiatives.

Circular Uniforms

This initiative aims to recover plastic waste to produce textile material for uniforms for its employees. In 2024, the company seeks to achieve 90% implementation nationwide, which will mean a reduction of 207,690 kg of plastic waste.

Recycled Labels

INDIO® beer uses completely recycled labels, endorsed by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC -N004104), consolidating itself as a benchmark in the beer market and demonstrating its commitment to the environment.

Sustainable Plastic Rings

HEINEKEN Mexico has implemented sustainable rings with Hi Cone PCR technology, made with 50% post-consumer recycled plastic. This contributes to the saving of 1 million kilograms of virgin clay, equivalent to the annual energy consumption of more than 22,000 Mexicans.

Water Reuse

In its seven brewing and malting plants, HEINEKEN Mexico treats and reuses all of its wastewater in different processes not intended for human consumption, promoting the circular economy.

Commitment to a Sustainable Future

HEINEKEN Mexico’s initiatives are inspiring examples of how to integrate the circular economy into daily operations. By adopting sustainable practices, the company sets a model for other companies and consumers to follow.

At Mercado Circular, we support and celebrate these efforts that drive positive change. Together, we can “Deliver a Better World” and work towards a cleaner, healthier planet for future generations.
